The Barlow Respiratory Hospital Nursing Training Program is a comprehensive educational initiative that equips recent graduate nurses (RNs) with the specialized competencies required to deliver exceptional nursing care to ventilated and medically complex patients. Recent RN graduates are welcome. Welcoming seasoned medical practitioners making the transition from skilled nursing facilities to acute care.

Van Nuys provides assigned patients with direct nursing care, which includes assessment, care planning, education, and evaluation. An RN administers patient care at Barlow Respiratory Hospital in Van Nuys during the orientation period, under the guidance of a preceptor.

RN-Van Nuys (RN) operates by the hospital’s policy and scope of practice, under the supervision and direction of the Clinical Director, Charge Nurse, and/or House Supervisor. By effectively applying technical competence and incorporating biopsychosocial concepts and cognitive abilities, the practitioner attends to patients with both basic and advanced requirements.

Float Pool RNs are authorized to work in all three locations of Barlow Respiratory Hospital (Los Angeles, Van Nuys, and Whittier) and are compensated with Float Pool incentive pay. The ideal candidate will have the ability to commute to all three locations from a central location (Main Campus near Dodger Stadium, Van Nuys, and Whittier). The assignments are furnished beforehand.
