A Core API team member with engineering management experience is required. You will be responsible for supervising a seasoned team that serves the components that influence the Depop user experience, including items and photographs. Because the team is accountable for services built in Scala and Python, the ability to navigate multiple and complex domains is critical.

You will be instrumental in augmenting the team’s inventory through the identification of novel prospects for investment, enhancement, or simplification. Additionally, you will support the team’s success by presenting avenues for expansion. You will be entrusted with the responsibility of advising the team on technical decisions while maintaining a delicate equilibrium between business considerations and the requirements of our foundational platform.

You will work in conjunction with engineering leadership team members, business partners, and stakeholders from across the organization, which will include our technical program managers. You will collaborate with our production engineering teams to enhance the developer experience when interacting with our essential services so they can generate value more quickly. 

You will work in conjunction with our data engineering teams to ensure that the data scientists we employ have accurate and up-to-date information to model, which will ultimately lead to the generation of valuable insights and recommendations. You will work closely with our infrastructure engineering teams to ensure that our systems and services continue to meet the requirements of our expanding business while remaining current, available, performant, and secure.
