Important Tasks:

The Power Subsystem Lead and Work Package Managers will be primarily responsible for the design, analysis, development, verification, and delivery of the power subsystem/modules within Space Projects. Typical duties consist of the following:

  • Serve as the power subsystem lead and work package manager for space initiatives.
  • Complete ownership of the power subsystem and its constituent parts.
  • Identification and delineation of spacecraft system requirements that influence the spacecraft power system
  • Procurement of a power system solution that satisfies these criteria in alignment with the organization’s documented procedures.
  • Administration and validation of these specifications
  • System and subsystem interfacing, in addition to trade-offs
  • Supervision of technical solutions and support for fellow design engineers as required.
  • Control and delivery of satellite power system work bundles, including oversight of the budget, schedule, planning, and risks, as well as liaison with project managers.
  • Interactions with both internal and external clients
  • Creation of technical documents (including interface-level FMEAs, development/test/verification plans, test methodologies, and technical descriptions)
  • Minor circuit design enhancements (e.g., ECN generations, part replacements, incremental performance improvements)

Previous Work Experience:

  • Demonstrated power system engineering experience of at least three years in a systems or power electronics capacity, with preference in the aerospace or space industries.
  • Analysis, design, construction, and testing of analog and power electronics within a system or subsystem design
  • Examples of typical Power System Equipment in a spacecraft include battery charge and discharge regulators, power distribution modules, relay and activation modules, drive electronics for motors and mechanisms, DC-DC converters ranging from 5W to 3kW, heater control boards, batteries, and solar panels, among others.
  • Proficient in fault-finding and practical design and production experience during the development of analog and power electronics products.
  • Outstanding technical discussion and presentation abilities in front of/with a technical audience.
  • Practical knowledge of contemporary schematic capture and simulation applications, including MentorGraphics, OrCAD PSPICE, and others.
